Our On-Site Blog Post Blueprint.

Before we dive into the steps you must take to gain traction on search, I suggest you read our post on Keyword Research first.

To add context, let’s use a recent example. A client of ours is a very successful and talented landscaper. Wanted to know if people search for the term “Natural Swimming Pools” With the massive benefits of cold-water swimming, I assumed the data would be rather promising. The actual number of users who search for that exact query is a staggering 4.400 a month in the UK. For the benefit of this post, we’ll use this example.

To increase engagement and traffic for this search term, we need to create a page or blog post that must contain the following elements:

  • 1
The title must be “Natural Swimming Pools”
  • 2
The post must be a minimum of 600 words. Unique original content. You cannot use AI generated content.
  • 3
The search term must be included in a sub heading and at least once preferably twice in the content of the post.
  • 4
Must contain minimum 2 images with “Natural Swimming Pools” as part of the file name and the alt tag
  • 5
“Natural Swimming Pools” or a synonym must be used in both an internal and external link
  • 6
Meta Description must contain “Natural Swimming Pools”, preferably near the start
  • 7
The URL must contain “Natural Swimming Pools”
  • 8
Page, Post, Resource or an Event must link to this article

Once the blog post is on the website, use all your social media streams to promote and link to the post. Just a summary is more than suffiecient, do not add the whole article. Engagement is a ranking factor, so it’s important you try and drive traffic to the article yourself.
